Happy Holidays from the Georgia Force Cheerleaders

The holidays might be over, but we’re okay with that! We’ve got so many exciting things planned for our 2012 season, that we’re more than ready to ring in the new year. But if you’ve got the post-holiday blues, this video of the Georgia Force Cheerleaders might help a bit!

Arena Football League’s “Fanographies”

In conjunction with the Arena Football League’s “Year of the Fan,” the AFL has recently announced a new fan-centric program, deemed “Fanographies.” The program encourages AFL fans to share their personal experiences as a fan of the AFL in one-to-two page essays of 250-500 words in length, photos, and even 30 to 60 second videos. Each submission must illustrate why they love the AFL and what makes them the most devoted fans.

Select fan submissions will be featured throughout the 2012 AFL season leading up to the Arena Bowl XXV. Fans that submit their story will be eligible for giveaways during the 2102 season.

All fan submissions must be sent via email to Any Force fans that enter should let us know via Facebook and Twitter for a special shout-out!

Recent Force Signings

It may be the off-season, but the Force coaches and staff have been hard at work building a strong and thorough team for the 2012 season. If you’ve missed any of the exciting updates, here is a run-down of what the Force staff has been up to for the past few months!

On September 26th, the Force announced that eight core players re-signed for the 2012 season, including quarterback Darnell Kennedy, wide receiver Larry Shipp, defensive linemen Jeff Littlejohn and Louis Ellis, defensive back Robert Durham, linebacker Caleb Bostic, and offensive linemen Sean Allen and Ray Norrell. All eight players were an essential part to the 2011 season, and the Force is thrilled to have them return in 2012.

A few days later on September 30th, four additional signings were made to bolster both the offensive and defensive lines. Offensive linemen Jovon Hayes and Carol Barnett and defensive linemen Brian Duncan and Jarvis Geathers became the newest members of the Force.

On October 4th, R.J. Archer, a seasoned AFL quarterback previously of the Milwaukee Mustangs, agreed to terms with the Force. The next day, former NFL wide receiver Shay Hodge signed on for the 2012 season. Hodge was originally signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers but was released during rookie camp. Following his release, he was immediately offered a spot with the Washington Redskins. In 2010, Hodge was signed to the Cincinnati Begnals practice squad.

On October 10th, NAPA Kicker of the Year Carlos Martinez resigned with the Force. The next day, defensive linemen Daniel Howard and Lawon Scott and offensive linemen John Gianninotto and fullback Mykel Benson were signed with the Force to bulk up both sides of the ball. Defensive backs Marrio Norman, Roland Cola, LeRoy Vann, Demetrie McCray, and Dennis Rogan were also signed to strengthen the secondary.

A few weeks later, explosive receiver/kick returner C.J. Johnson agreed to terms for the 2012 season. Six days later, veteran wide receiver Derek Lee signed with the Force. Lee spent his first three seasons with Georgia, from 2005 to 2007.

More recently, former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Justin Harper signed with the Force, in addition to former University of Southern California quarterback Mitch Mustain. To learn more about Mustain, check out USA Today’s story on him by clicking here.
